Systagenix Stylised training and marketing videos Expert medical videos Systagenix contacted us with an exciting brief to help them develop a series of animations that would showcase their innovative medical products. 19 videos were needed in total, half would demonstrate the real world application of each product whilst the other half would take it to a microscopic level and show the science behind the products. A sensitive style As we would be animating some very unpleasant wounds, it was important that our work wasn’t too gruesome. We developed a unique 3D style for Systagenix; a very graphic, cartoon style with a crisp and clean look that was in keeping with the brand values. CGI fabric challenge A huge challenge for us during this project was to accurately create the cloth that made up the plasters and bandages used in the videos. The fabric was extremely complex as each required different amounts of tension and involved a number of different layers. Realistic cloth simulation For the scenes where bandages are wrapped around the leg it was important that as the fabric was layered it naturally formed around the leg, like a real bandage would, but we also needed to create tension with the hand pulling from the other side. In order to create the precise look that we wanted it was essential that we used a cloth simulator, which applies scientific information to CGI fabric instructing it to behave realistically. A prestigious accolade This project was featured in the CGI issue of the Creative Review magazine (June 2012 issue). Bacardi Magical product animation Bar advertisements We were contacted by Mind Orchard to help them with a project for Bacardi. They needed us to produce 9 animated adverts for Bacardi cocktails that could be shown on large HD screens in their bars to encourage sales. Fantasia The concept for our work was to bring to life all the ingredients of each cocktail. We wanted to pay homage to the 1940 Disney animation classic Fantasia from which we took inspiration for how we could accurately simulate human movements in the inanimate objects and how we would make them interact with each other. Visual planning The creative process for this project was open and collaborative, and because of this the progression of our work was extremely smooth. We created rough animations for each cocktail advert, which meant that everyone could previsualise what the final videos would actually look like and allowed the team at Bacardi to amend or add any elements they desired. Natural challenges Realistic looking glass and liquids are very hard to create and light using CGI, we needed to use advanced techniques to bring these complex elements to life. The key to portraying appealing looking fruity cocktails was in the details such the translucency and the tiny condensation droplets on the glasses. NCP Animated Customer Journey

NCP Customer Journey 3D character explainer video An animated sales brochure NCP, the UK’s leading parking operator, needed a clear and concise way  to showcase the new technologies that were being implemented in their new car parks. They worked with us to create an explainer video that follows the journey of an NCP customer from start to finish, visually demonstrating each new feature step by step. Back to the storyboard The storyboarding phase is essential when creating CGI and is always the first thing we do when working on animation projects before beginning 3D modelling. We incorporate a high level of detail in our storyboards and often go through many redrafts to ensure that our finished work is to the highest possible standard. Stylistic development We had previously worked with NCP and created a character style that embodied their brand’s visual identity. When creating this animation we developed new elements in the NCP world but were careful to be consistent with the existing ’rounded squares’ design. Character animation At Bigman we pride ourselves on our ability to develop characters for companies that can deliver any information, regardless how dry, in an engaging way that is accessible to an audience. This NCP campaign is an excellent example of this as we told the story with the help of the lead character, Ed, who was based on a typical NCP customer. Decca Records Animated product videos Promotional Youtube videos From 2012 we have been creating an ongoing series of advertisements for Decca Records and their sister label Deutsche Grammophon that are to be broadcast on Youtube. The animated videos bring to life a selection of CD boxsets, the perfect way to summarise such an extensive product. Painstaking details The advertisements needed to showcase the collections in all their glory and so we needed to ensure that all the necessary details were included. This meant we devoted a huge amount of time to planning so that our videos demonstrated the true complexity of the products. A great sales tool The animations we created are an extremely effective way to advertise products quickly but still in a high level of detail.
